A Colour Challenge at Our Creative Corner

It's a colour challenge at Our Creative Corner, being hosted by Lori Rider of The Diva Stamper.

Before I introduce the challenge I just wanted to mention that this will be my last posting as a Design Team member for Our Creative Corner.  I have come to the end of my second term with the team and have thoroughly enjoyed every creative moment and relished in the challenges ... I even ventured into areas unknown and unchartered for me, and for that I am extremely grateful and privileged.  A fabulous and amazing team of ladies whom I will miss being creative with, but will continue to support, and I look forward to participating in the challenges from the other side!!!

Onto the challenge ... we have colour challenge with a twist ... this is what Lori has to say:

I loved these fun round fabric buttons (I found them on Pinterest but the link to the original source was broken) so I thought it would be a great challenge to use the colors with either fabric or circles - or both, if you wish!

I have gone for a Thank You card for my time at OCC!  I have incorporated the colours with my papers - the bottom panel, although it looks a little orange, the colours are red and pink, and the green stamp (image from PTI Giga Guidelines) is such a pretty vibrant lime ink by versacolour - love it!

A Sketch by Cindy - Freshly Made Sketches

It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and this week the talented Cindy Hall is our hostess.

My card this week, was a long time in the making ... I was trying to fit it around a busy schedule and it wasn't quite happening - I did finally get it done at the eleventh hour ... gosh, talk about cutting it fine ... "thanks for waiting Jen!"

I made a man card and kept it fairly simple with a few splashes of red - for a bit of colour and fun!  The little packages are a die from PTI and the ribbon ties have been cut with felt which gives such a nice texture/feel.  Also the added red rhinestones don't show very well here but they add a pretty sparkle  without being over the top and girly!

Cutie Pie - Freshly Made Sketch

We've got some circular fun happening at Freshly Made Sketches this week!  The talented Jen Mitchell is our hostess and she has got us working with circles.

Curious? ... this is what I created

A 10.5 cm square card, which as you can see I substituted one of the circles .... however, I kept it clean  and simple with some PTI stamps and SU papers.

I have to admit, that I do love color challenges.  And so, I wanted to share a new pretty color challenge that I haven't seen before.  I created an inspiration board, to help get your creative juices flowing.  I also included a 'quote' if you are inspired by words.

For my card, I used the required colours of Navy and Pink Pirouette, and my colour of choice is Rose Red ... these pretty flowers are from the stamp set Bordering on Romance.

A Hostess Thank You

It's time for another fun challenge week at Our Creative Corner, and hosting the challenge is the fabulous Sharon Wheet of Inkwood Designs ... so without further ado, this is what Sharon has to say:

At this time of year, we find ourselves sharing more of our time with family and friends, hosting and attending parties.   All kinds of parties!  From afternoon BBQ's to elegant wedding receptions.  And it is this celebrating that has shaped this week's challenge, entitled, "PARTY".  We challenge you to make a paper craft item for a party!  Any kind of party: birthday celebrations, an afternoon BBQ, a summer evening soiree, a beautiful wedding ceremony, or an elegant our dinner.  Just make your paper craft item related to your party: an invitation, a party favor, some decorations, a hostess 'thank you' gift/card, etc.

 

A simple Hostess Thank You is my project this week.

Thanks - A Freshly Made Sketch

It's a brand new week at Freshly Made Sketches and this week Jennifer Timko of Stampin on the Fly is our flying hostess with a a brand spanking new sketch to help you jump start your creativity!

It took me a little while to get my card happening ... the mojo was really slacking, time was passing and I was getting tired and cranky ... but I came up with a card that I thought was passable, and uploaded it on our DT blog.

 

Looking back at it today ....I did not like it one bit ... the embossed panel and the card base look like two different whites (they aren't really - must be something to do with the lighting, camera ... dunno), those orange flowers look so odd - if you look closely you can see the uneven black around the orange - where I was free handing ... crookedly!

So, I tweaked it a little ....

I punched some black circles, some orange circles and added an orange card base!
This pretty vase and flowers is from a stamp set Bright Blossoms by SU!
