Freshly Made Sketches with Rita

I just love this sketch that Rita has for us this week at Freshly Made Sketches, it is classic and elegant and definitely one that I will turn to over and over, and I am sure you will love it too!

Sadly, it is our last week with Tracey and Kim as our Guest Designers, so be sure to pop by their blogs and say "hi".

The stamp set I used here is Bold Botanicals by My Time Made Easy and one that I really love. I have paper pieced the flowers with some blue retired DSP by SU (Bella Bleu), and cos I stamped it in black on kraft it looked kinda dull, so some white doodle dots were added to the leaves and stems, as well as the centres and the leaves were coloured with pencils. Faux stitching was added to the Not Quite Navy panel and the kraft background was repeatedly stamped with the main flower image. This card reminds me of a pair of denim jeans.

Hope to see your creation in the gallery, but in the meantime check out what my DT mates have for your inspirational pleasure!

And because I have have time, I thought I might pop this into the Moxie Fab - Cure for Winter Blues challenge!

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy Saturday, and thanks for stopping by .... I am once again hosting the challenge this week at Our Creative Corner, and cos I love things that hang off and over the edge, that is the challenge - to create a card or paper craft item where an element of your design flows off and over the edge.

The flower comes from In Bloom by PTI, as does the sentiment and the flourish die cut is from MFT.

I would love for you to join us, so in the meantime head on over to Our Creative Corner and check out what our fab DT have in store for you!

You're Special - Freshly Made Sketches

It's challenge Wednesday at Freshly Made Sketches, and this week I am hosting!

The sketch I have for you came about as I was wondering around Bunnings (a huge hardware store here in Australia) when I came upon some paint swatches - I have seen lots an lots of things done with paint swatches of late (just google it in Pinterest and you'll see what I mean), and hence this sketch was born.

The flower stamp is "Chearful" from Penny Black and the sentiment is "Sentiment Sampler" from Paper Smooches

Thanks for stopping by, but in the meantime head on over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out what inspiration our fab DT have in store for you!

Hello Friend - Our Creative Corner

It's Saturday, and that means challenge week at Our Creative Corner.

Sharon Wheet is our lovely hostess this week and her challenge is:
Best Friend: Make a paper craft item (card, scrapbook page layout, a 3-D item, an altered item) for a Best Friend! It can be for a birthday, a thank you, or to just let her know she is your best friend! The only other requirement, is to include a flower!
This flower stamp is from the Squared Posies set by an Australian company "Annabelle Stamps". They have some really lovely stamps and the quality is excellent too! I have had this set for a few weeks now and have finally had the chance to colour with some Prismacolour pencils ... still not used to using these little babies, but practice makes perfect ... huh!

Hope you find the chance to join in the fun with us, and why not make a card for your bestie .... just because!!!

Have a great week, and thanks for stopping by!

That pretty flower and background doily is from PTI and everything else is SU.

Love at Our Creative Corner

"Love is in the Air" at Our Creative Corner this week and Sharon Wheet is our fabulous hostess.

However, before we get to the challenge, I just wanted to welcome our Guest Designers for the week, Noelle McAdams and Marie at Ink'd Wings.

And, we also have brand new designers that have joined our team:

Sue Butler - Scrumplescrunch
Anita Houston - The Artful Maven Haven
Marcy Kaminski - En Papillote Arts
Irena Kowalczyk (aka Rudlis) - Love, Life and Crafts
Meihsia Liu - Simply Paper Crafts

Welcome to the team ladies it is such a pleasure to have you aboard!

And, now onto Sharon's challenge, this is what she has to say:

"Make a St. Valentine's Day paper craft item (card, scrapbook page layout, 3-D item, or an altered item) using the colors Pink, Grey, and Kraft. Now, I'm a girly-girl, so add some sparkle to your paper craft item (rhinestones, glitter, metal) anything that shines! And don't forget to include a heart-shape"

Well, there you have it ... why not join in the fun with us and create something for "Love" ...

Here is what I came up with ... guess what my new purchase was ....

Yep ... that brick wall embossing folder by Tim Holtz, isn't it great, I also bought the new Newspaper background stamp by Hero Arts (in behind the bookprint heart) ....

My colours here are kraft, basic grey and melon mambo, although the MM looks kinda red, I went for the stronger coloured pink to add some drama to the kraft and grey ... I was originally working with the soft pinks, but they were way too .... well, nothing ...

I'm also entering this into the Moxie Fab Die Cut challenge ...

Have a great weekend and week ahead and I look forward to seeing you in the gallery!

Friend - Freshly Made Sketches

Our fabulous creator and owner of Freshly Made Sketches, Lesley... is hosting our challenge this week, and I think your gonna love it .... it's a sketch gone wide!

Only thing is ... I didn't realise it was wide a sketch, I just thought it was small and short ... duh! Anyway, these challenges are only there to spark your creative imagination and so I created a small, short card ... I think its really cute, but you be the judge ...

My card base is a 6" x 6" and folded in half to get a 3" x 6". I love this size, it's small, but not mini, and you get 4 out of a 12" x 12".

After I posted this card to the challenge site, I felt that it looked kinda dull, so I added some white gel stitching and whitened the dots on the flower ...

Why not get creative with us and have a go at these long, wide cards too!
