Thanks - A Freshly Made Sketch

It's a brand new week at Freshly Made Sketches and this week Jennifer Timko of Stampin on the Fly is our flying hostess with a a brand spanking new sketch to help you jump start your creativity!

It took me a little while to get my card happening ... the mojo was really slacking, time was passing and I was getting tired and cranky ... but I came up with a card that I thought was passable, and uploaded it on our DT blog.

Looking back at it today ....I did not like it one bit ... the embossed panel and the card base look like two different whites (they aren't really - must be something to do with the lighting, camera ... dunno), those orange flowers look so odd - if you look closely you can see the uneven black around the orange - where I was free handing ... crookedly!

So, I tweaked it a little ....

I punched some black circles, some orange circles and added an orange card base!
This pretty vase and flowers is from a stamp set Bright Blossoms by SU!
I hope you join us this week .... can't wait to see you in our gallery .... in the meantime head on over to Freshly Made Sketches and check out what our DT have for your inspirational pleasure!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

So glad I'm not the only one who does this. I think they both look great.

I LOVE them both---what a cool idea with the flowers! I always love orange and black together but worry it looks too much like Halloween, but IT DOES NOT!!!! Very fresh & trendy! Love it!

Ok, you are so funny! I loved the first card when I saw it on the DT blog and I love the second one too! Either way, the pop of the orange against the neutrals is great!

Isn't it frustrating when the photo just won't work. I really like both versions of your card Tui, the orange, grey and white are such an elegant combo! Those flower centres in the second version are super funky!

You are so funny! I was reading your story and looking at the first one thinking that it looked pretty good. But then I kept scrolling and when I saw the second one, I thought "wow!" A few tweaks really make a big impact!

Hi Tui! I like both of your cards - but I think I like the second one best. I have been there many times - most of the times I end up with a card I really like but sometimes it just isn't going to happen. My mojo is a little slacking right now too - so I've been doing a lot of re-organizing - my second-favorite hobby. Ha!

It is soooooo good to know that the uber talented have those kinds of moments too!!! I like the POP one better, but I am too also v v frustrated when pics don't come out right. Remember to breathe in, out and repeat Tui. ooxx

Wow I like both of these cards Tui. I couldn't really see anything wrong with the first - I think it's just lighting and had you not pointed out the slight difference in the base and mat white c/s I doubt people would notice.

I do like the stepped up version though, the orange base looks great!

Oh Tui - you still are fabulous even when you are cranky! Love the pop of that orange! And it is amazing what a tweak can do - I love those flowers in your second card!

I think this is such a striking card with the splash of orange, love the background and twine too!

Although I'd have been completely satisfied with the original version, the second one really does look a bit better! I do the same thing myself, and always mumble to myself "It's just a card Carol!" lol

I love your rounded corners and the card on white looks beautiful to me. It's amazing how a little tweaking can make such a difference! The second card is lovely too.
