Just Add Ink - 6 & Swap Sisters Challenges

I have a card that I created to fit two challenges this week a sketch challenge from Just Add Ink and a colour challenge from Swap Sisters using my all time favourite colours:
Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White.

So I thought that I would try something that I had never done before - punch art .... I was inspired by my Swap Sister Lynda Shrimpton cos I loved her ice creams and I had to give it a go, "thanks Lynda".

Here's my card:
Oh, and here is the colour and sketch pics:

This was such a fun card to make - I used the scallop circle punches and the 1 3/4" circle punch for the ice cream scoops, the cone was cut freehand and scored on an angle in the scor pal and the topping was coloured with the choc chip marker then crystal effects added.

My version of the chocolates on the the right were made with chocolate buttons ... lol ... added some glass beads on top, and all held together with crystal effects.

Anyway, hope you are all having a wonderful day, and enjoy a calorie-free ice cream and chocs!!!

Bleached KISS

I think I am on a bit of a roll here .... I am really enjoying this new bleaching technique that I have learnt from Swap Sisters (and their current challenge), so I thought I'd create another card this time combining it with the Pals Paper Arts Challenge, which is Keep It Simple Sweetie (KISS). Guidelines to this challenge is:
  • clean with lots of white space
  • simple design
  • minimum time to create
  • limited layers and embellishments

Here is my card:

All products are SU and the stamp set is Fifth Avenue Florals and Short n' Sweet.

I stamped the image in versamark and clear embossed it. Then with my aqua painter filled with straight bleach I painted directly onto the image. The card base is 4x4.

This was real easy, in fact so easy I did some more - for practise .... with different colours:

I even made up some coordinating envelopes:

Anyway, it is Saturday afternoon, so I hope that you have an enjoyable evening whatever you are doing ... and be safe!!!

Bleaching, Challenges and an Invitation

Couldn't help myself and had to have a go at a few challenges this week - a technique (bleaching) challenge from Swap Sisters (see below for further info), a colour challenge by Makeesha at Inkspirations and a sketch challenge at The Sweetest Thing ... whew!!!
Here is my card:
Swap Sisters is a newly launched online forum, full of stampers and papercrafters just like you and I, created as a place to gather and share ideas, chat online, enjoy a project from the tutorial gallery and even take part in a swap, a challenge or both!!!

The challenge this week was to watch the bleaching video tutorial and then create a project.

I have used pocket silhouettes as the main image and the four background panels I have used scrunched up glad wrap dipped into bleach .... not a bad effect huh!!!

Anyway, we would love to have you join our happy little community, it's ALL FREE, however subscription is by invitation only ... so if you are interested leave me a comment and I'll send you an invite.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Mellow Moss, Brocade Blue, Ruby Red and Very Vanilla
Ink: Brocade Blue marker
Other: Non SU pearls, bleach

Just Moved

Just a quick post - this is a set of 'moving' cards/tags that I made up for my brother and his family. They are a growing family and have just moved into a lovely new home in Wellington, NZ. I thought that these would come in handy to spread the news to family and friends of their new address:
It was a fun little project ... will look forward to making some more when the need arises!!!

Just Add Ink and Stamping 411

I thought that I would have a go at two different challenges this week - a colour challenge from Just Add Ink and my first sketch challenge from Stamping 411. I found using these colours very challenging initially, but am happy with the result. The fun and simple layout is definitely one that I can turn to time and time again.

Here is my card:
Oh, and here is the colour combo and sketch design:

I also tried the tips that Amanda gave in her Photography 101 lesson .... and again I am happy with the result!!! Thanks Amanda .... you can find her lesson here.

Note: On the sage shadow I have stamped in versamark ink with glad wrap ie; scrunched up glad wrap - this has produced a really nice subtle background effect, almost similar to suede, don't you think! and the little flowers with baby pearls were clear embossed so that they would stand out more!

Anyway, hope you all have a great day, and don't forget to check out the stunning designs at Just Add Ink and Stamping 411.

First Class

Just thought that I'd share with you the projects that I created for my very very first class.

My very good stampin buddy Tia (who has been running classes since August 2009) and I have teamed up to run some craft and card classes here on the Gold Coast.

We used Valentines as a theme and taught 3 projects that were inspired by two very talented designers and papercrafters.

This is what we did in our class:

The red card I love .... it such a gender neutral card and fit Valentines beautifully, this was a CASE inspired card by the very talented Kylie and to top it off I added a matching giftbox. This giftbox and kraft and pink card was inspired by a Ustamp project by Kirsty Brown.

The ladies had a totally terrific time and said that they will be coming again next week. Fantastic ....

Next week, Tia will be hosting our Birthday class where she will be creating a tote bag with 3 matching cards, a birthday card and coordinating envelope. Should be great ... check out Tia's blog, she will surely inspire you!!!
