Just Add Ink - Colour Challenge 1

Oh wow .... a brand new challenge blog has been officially launched (22 January 2010) by two very talented, creative AND Australian papercrafters. They will be hosting sketch challenges, colour challenges and Just Add challenges (as the name suggests .... Just Add - whatever the challenge is, ribbon, bling etc) AND not only that .... but they also have an extremely talented Design Team .... and guess what .... yep .... they're all from from Australia and New Zealand!!! Can't get better than that. Interested??? Just Add Ink is only but a click away ....

So without further ado, the first challenge off the rank is a Colour Challenge that is so aptly suited as they have used the colours from their logo: I made this card with the new I {Heart} Heart stamp set (new in the Summer Mini) and the full Heart punch. After awhile, I thought that it could be suitable for Valentines Day but it needed a gift to go with it .... and decided a simple 3x3 box would do:

However, the box needed to be filled ...
A tutorial of this box can be found at here at Splitcoast Stampers. For the insert - make another box bottom - 5 3/8" square, scored at 1" on all four sides and make vertical cuts to create the tabs. When turned upside down this becomes the insert. Cut out four holes in the centre square (the 1 3/8" circle punchholes fit these chocs perfectly), pencil in the circle shapes and cut them out. Unfortunately the sides are too large to fit the circle punch

And voila' ... a simple valentines treat.

All products used are SU, apart from the chocs (of course) and the twine around the ribbon.

Stampset: I {Heart} Hearts, Polka Dot Background
Ink and CS: Taken with Teal, Rose Red, So Saffron, Choc Chip, Whisper White
Other: Versamark ink, corner rounder punch, SS grosgrain ribbon, cuttlebug embossing folder

Anyway, hope you give this challenge a go cos they are also offering a $50 SU prize. For some more inspiration check out the Design Teams creations - they will surely inspire you!!!

Sa-wat-dee kha from Thailand

I am at present basking in the sun in beautiful Phuket, Thailand. It is simply stunning here and the people are just lovely.

Whilst going through some of my photo's I came across some cards that I had made but hadn't uploaded, so here are a few pics that I made before leaving on holiday.

A Happy Birthday card and gift bag:

And a card and gift for my son who turned 18 on 6 January. This is a CD cover pouch, but the inside I also made an inside pocket that contained money and another inside pocket that contained cell-phone credit. A deliberately simple creation, as at that age, he was only interested in the contents...... however, he was very appreciative!!!

I have been taking some lovely pictures here, so I can looking forward to creating some lovely scrapping pages.

Enjoy and have a happy day ....
