I also tried the tips that Amanda gave in her Photography 101 lesson .... and again I am happy with the result!!! Thanks Amanda .... you can find her lesson here.
Note: On the sage shadow I have stamped in versamark ink with glad wrap ie; scrunched up glad wrap - this has produced a really nice subtle background effect, almost similar to suede, don't you think! and the little flowers with baby pearls were clear embossed so that they would stand out more!

LOVE this card, Tui! Yep, my first thought was "wow, that sage panel looks like suede"!! Great idea; looks fantastic. You should be very happy with the end result; it's a gorgeous card.
